CALC³

The CALC³ project is funded by the Max Planck Society from April 2022 until March 2024 and allows us to proceed our work on Computer-Assisted Language Comparison by targeting three specific focus areas, namely human prehistory, linguistic typology, and human cognition.

Here is a summary of the project:

Computer-assisted approaches to historical language comparison have not oly begun to transform the field of historical linguistics, they have also shown to be very fruitful for the investigation of linguistic typology and human cognition. In order to consolidate their potential, the CALC³ project aims to go "beyond computer-assisted language comparison" by applying computer-assisted approaches to tackle concrete research questions in the field of human prehistory (1), linguistic typology (2), and human cognition (3).

More information about the project can be found on our lab website.
